Midweek Growth Opportunities

6:30-7:30 p.m.
Ministries at First Church team up twice a year to offer
growing opportunities for various ages on Wednesday evenings. Our purpose is to
provide short-term teaching sessions to help children, students, and adults grow
strong in faith and family. The winter schedule for Growing U begins Wednesday,
January 16, and continues for eight weeks through March 5.
Following is our family-friendly schedule for Growing U.
WEDNESDAY EVENING SCHEDULE
6:00-6:25 p.m. Come early and enjoy dessert and fellowship in the Atrium
6:30-7:30 p.m. Classes and group activities (unless otherwise noted)
ADULTS
Portraits of Courage taught by L.D. Campbell in GFLC
What does courage look like? This series will look at principles of courage we
all need for confronting every day life. Sessions will include the courage to
make right choices, take what God gives you, face your giants, confront, be a
change agent, go it alone, live your convictions, and never quit.
Love and Logic Parenting led by Phil and Bev Haas in
FC 101 and 102
What is the most challenging job you’ll ever face? Most agree the answer is
parenting! First Church offers a practical course called Love and Logic to help
parents meet the challenges of raising responsible children who are ready to
survive and thrive in the real world. This upcoming course is for parents of
middle school and high school students. Cost is $8 for course workbook which is
provided at the sessions.
DivorceCare facilitated by Kandy Hinson in FC 103
Don’t go through separation or divorce alone! DivorceCare is a friendly, caring
group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult
experiences. This is a 13 week, video driven course. $15 for materials. Register

A 10 week study. There will be a book fee. Register with Faye Wainscott. From
this course you will gain new skills for getting off the performance treadmill,
discover how four false beliefs have negatively impacted your life, learn how to
overcome obstacles that prevent you from experiencing the truth that your
self-worth is found only in the love, acceptance, and forgiveness of Christ
First Praise! Choir Rehearsal from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in
the Worship Center
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Breakaway meets from 6:15-7:45 p.m. in the Student Center.
Middle school students and their friends are invited to these high energy nights
filled with crazy games, food, and creative discussion groups.
CHILDREN
New Songs in the Orchard Center.
60 minutes filled with Biblical teachings, activities and new songs for children
in Kindergarten through Grade 5. During this session all the new songs will be
about Christ-like values.
PRESCHOOL and NURSERY
Wee Grow in the Garden Center will take our preschoolers on a
wonderful journey on Jesus' life, focusing on his friends, miracles, and
ministry. We will use crafts, music, puppets, games and snacks to make our
Biblical journey fun and exciting for everyone. Excellent nursery care will be
provided for infants through two year olds.
